More on Sri Lanka
A great presentation on Sri Lanka and Anil's Ghost the other day!
Here's an interesting story I read the other day about Sri Lanka that might interest you.

Screening times for the English Patient
I've set up two screening times for the English Patient next week in the Media room in the basement of Bailey-Howe.
Monday from 1-4 and Tuesday from 3-6. The film is about 162 minutes long, if I recall correctly, so you'd be out of there by about 3:45 on Monday and 5:45 on Tuesday. The movie will also be on reserve for all of next week, so if you want to head over there on your own to watch it at a more convenient time, you can do so as well.

Reconfiguring the course
How does this sound for a new weighting of assignments that will allow us to avoid having a final exam? I've changed the essay lengths a bit as well.
Presentation: 20%
Essay #1 (2000 words): 30%
Essay #2 (3000 words): 40%
Participation: 10%
If we're all agreed to this, I will rid you of the dreaded final exam once and for all. Please comment here in the blog or feel free e-mail directly if you wish to voice your opinion in private.

Finally off the ground
I'm finally getting this blog off the ground for us. I'll be posting stuff as much as I can, but you can also join in by adding your own comments to anything that I post. This will be a great chance for us to carry on conversations outside of class time about Ondaatje, his work, or the visit. More to follow this afternoon...
