Here are the topics for your final term paper.

1. The theme of minding one’s relations is central to many of the texts we have read in this course. Discuss with respect to three of these texts, one from each of the regions we have discussed in this course. Only one of these selections may be taken from the anthology and you must also cover a text you did not deal with in your first essay.

2. Focusing on three of the texts we have read from Canada, Australia, and Aotearoa/New Zealand, examine the role of one of the recurring themes we have come across in many of the books and stories we have looked at this semester. Only one of these selections may be taken from the anthology and you must also cover a text you did not deal with in your first essay. Questions you might want to consider are "why is this theme so prevalent in texts by indigenous writers from these three countries?" and "how does this theme differ between each text?"

Essay length: 1500 - 2000 words
Due no later than May 12 (there can be no extensions beyond this date)
