A great opportunity for you
This would be a great opportunity for students in our class. If I didn't have something else on that day, I'd be going too.
The UVM Anthropology Department, in conjunction with the ALANA Ethnic
Studies Program, is sponsoring a one-day trip to the Kahnawake Reserve
near Montreal on Saturday, April 9th.
The visit will focus on contemporary Kanien'kehaka (Mohawk) culture
and traditions, and will include a traditional meal served at the
longhouse, a lecture on Kanien'kehaka (Mohawk) culture, and a dance
performance. We also plan to visit the new Cultural Center and a
workshop/store featuring the works of Kahnawake artist Steve MacComber.
The cost of the trip, including lunch and all activities, is $20. The bus
will leave Williams Hall at 8 am and return around 6 pm.
To reserve your spot, sign up at the Anthropology Office. For more
information, call the Anthropology office at 6-3884 or email Prof.
Dickinson at jennifer.dickinson@uvm.edu.
*Payment in cash is due when you sign up.
**Please note: Once you sign up, there are no refunds unless another
person takes your place on the trip. This is so that our hosts don't prepare
food for people and then have only a few of us show up.
