I mean I'm all for girls finding stories they can relate to. This clearly doesn't have to happen in the classics, either. What becomes dangerous, however, is when explicitly or not the book preaches certain cultural values--materialism or pride, for example. I don't think the authors of chick lit books are of the caliber to include such values ironically either...
