Hey, Im EJ, From Burlington born and raised. I joined this class because canada is super rad and i wanted to learn more about it. I dont know that much about Canada because it's way cooler then the US. First class of classes as been legit lot of work but you learn to deal with it.

I'm from Virginia and have been to Canada at least twice but don't really know much about the people or government there. I joined the class to learn more about the culture in Canada, which I feel is different than the culture in the South Eastern United States that I'm acclimated to. Looking forward to going to going to Canada as a class too.

My name is Chris Fanelli and I am from Lancaster Pa. The reason I choose to take this class was a friend of mine, Marty Kreider reccomended this class to me. Honestly I do not know too much about Canada. I know some of the geographical content of Canada but not too much. My first week of class has been pretty good so far. I have had a lot of homework this first week but besides that it has been really fun.

My name is Marissa and I live about 30 minutes north of Boston, Ma. I've played ice hockey for about 10 years, which is mainly why I'm interested in learning about Canada. Canada did invent the sport of hockey =)! When I saw this class offered in the TAP booklet I was beyond happy. I honestly do not know that much about Canada, but I am looking forward to learning lots.
My first week of classes has gone extremely well. I love the amount of freedom I now have. My classes are all really interesting, I am looking forward to my sociology classes, I am a sociology major. My hardest class so far has been Spanish. I'm excited for this class and I'm sure it will be a great experience.

My name is Megan and I'm from Ringoes, New Jersey. The reason I took this class is mainly because Canada has always been a part of my life. My dad was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is still a Canadian citizen. Also, some of my relatives are currently living in Nova Scotia and I visit them frequently with my family. However, I do not know a lot about the culture of Canada and I would like to learn more about my Canadian family background. My first week of classes has been pretty relaxed since I don't have my chem or bio labs yet. So far it looks like this is going to be the class that I will enjoy the most! Can't wait to learn all about Canada and visit Ottawa!

Hey I'm Chelsea from Farmington, CT. I took this class because I was interested in learning more about Canadian culture since I don't really know much about it. I am very interested in the French Canadian aspect because I love French. I do have relatives from Canada as well and am a quarter French Canadian. I look forward to learning more about our bordering neighbors. Classes have gone well thus far. I cannot wait as well to go to Ottawa!

My name is Andrew and I live in South Burlington, Vermont. I was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and lived there for the first four years of my life. All of my extended family lives in the Toronto area including my sister who now attends the University of Toronto. I was drawn to this class because I wanted to become more knowledgeable about Canada, especially their political system. I am pretty familiar with Canadian geography and a bit of history. I was also enticed by the offer of a hockey game! My classes this week have been going very well. It will be nice once everything is all set and I am in a nice routine.

Hey I'm Abby, and I'm from Simsbury, CT. What brought me to this class was the trip to Ottawa and the offer of an iPod for the semester. However, I am very interested in learning about the cultures of Canada; I'm 3/8th French Canadian so I definitely look forward to learning more about that. There isn't too much that I already know about the country but hopefully that will change. My first week of classes has been pretty good. As of now, I like all of my classes, which will hopefully stay true.

Hey, I'm Hallie, from Mamaroneck, NY, (half hour from New York City). I have some Canadian connections: My grandmother's relatives were all Canadian-born, and I have cousins who still live in Halifax and Montreal. I also took this class because I want to learn more about Canada, the way Canadian students learn about the U.S. The trip to Ottawa was also pretty enticing..
My first week of classes have been pretty good. They are all interesting, and challenging, and despite the fact that I have four classes on Wednesday, I do look forward to this one.

Hey, im Paul and im from Saratoga Springs, New York. I found out about this class from professor Martin at orientation and knew it would be a good fit. Ive been to Canada about 5 times to go fishing in NB and once up to Montreal. Im into history and geography so im definitely going to appreciate this class. But most of all, I just really like Canada. As for my first week of classes, they nice and easy, but the workload is starting to pile on.

Hi, I'm Mark from Saint Johnsbury, Vermont. I'm a political science major and was really interested in the United States' political relations with Canada. Also I have been to Canada several times as a part of various french classes. I've been to Montreal and Quebec City (both old and new), as well as, Victoria on a cruise two summers ago. My first week was pretty light, but this week looks to be more work.

Hey, I'm Dan from Western Massachusetts, Northampton specifically. I'm really into skiing and it was a major selling point in choosing UVM. I've been to Canada several times to ski in the winter and spent some time vacationing in Montreal for the summer. I've always been interested in Canada because despite being so close, it seems even more foreign than some countries overseas. I took this class because I would like to be more informed about a country that shares so much with the U.S. My classes have been pretty easy so far, but I'm sure things will be harder when labs start.

I'm Derrick from Swanzey, NH. I have a lot of french Canadian ancestors and relatives. I have never been to Canada but my relatives literally live on the border in Derby Line, VT. I often wonder about Canadian history and how it relates to my own. So far all of my classes are all introduction stuff. So far, so good.

I'm from Long Island, unfortunately. I never liked it much, so I'm very glad to be living up here in Vermont. I don't know a lot about Canada, but I've always loved the idea of it and wanted to know more.

My strongest memory about something pertaining to Canada is that, during the Bush administration, my mom was always sure that America was going to turn into another Nazi Germany. She constantly said she planned to buy land in Canada so we could drive over the boarder when "the worst happened."

Besides that, I've been on a wilderness trip to Canada as well as a trip to visit the cities. My dad knows someone in Toronto, but I don't know who. My classes are going pretty well, so no problems there. I'm excited about this new school year!
