Midterm prep!
Here are some of the things you should definitely be reviewing before the exam.
Geography:
• Names and location of all the provinces and territories
• Name of the capital cities
• Some of the basic facts about Canadians: population, official languages etc.
•
History:
•
• Date of Confederation
• Name of first Prime Minister
• Which provinces were the first and last to join Confederation
• Who were the first non-natives to arrive in North America? When did they arrive?
• Dates of the two world wars
Canadian Politics:
• Number of seats in the House of Commons
• Political parties who have seats in the last sitting of the Canadian parliament
• Role of the senate and how people become senators
• The role of the Governor General
• How the Prime Minister is elected
• Review the document "How Canadians Govern Themselves" (see earlier in the blog for the link to that)
Literature:
• There will be a couple of questions on the books and stories we have read
Group Blogs:
• There will also be some questions about the content you have come up with for your blogs. So, this is a great time to reread (or read!) what everyone else has been up to.
You are welcome to use the blog to chat amongst yourselves about these topics as you prepare for the exam.
