Group Assignments
Each group will give a 15-20 minute presentation to the class on a topic of the group's choice that connects to one of the course's thematic units (Canadian Music, Hockey, Canada/US Relations etc.). The goal of the presentation is to find something about one of these topics that interests you, explore it in more detail, and then share with the class what you have learned. You should aim for your presentation to lead us in to a larger discussion of your topic after your 20 minutes is up. So, for instance, you might want to end it with some questions or ideas that we as a class should consider.
Earlier in the semester, I divided you into five groups and each group chose a particular area they were interested in exploring further.
Here are the groups and the basic topic that you picked out at the time:
Group 1: Rudy, Julie, Taylor, Jesse
Topic: Hockey
Group 2: Ali, Leah, Laura, Molly
Topic: Canada & the US - youth
Group 3: Mike McDonald, Charlie, Emily, Lucy
Topic: Music
Group 4: Will B., Sarah, Danny, Marty
Topic: Media
Group 5: Lauren, Chris, Will H., Mike C.
Topic: Canada and the US - legal/societal issues
I'll be assigning dates for these presentations today in class
